What Is SSP?
The Safe and Sound Protocol, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, is based on the Polyvagal Theory — the science of how our nervous system constantly scans our environment for cues of safety or danger.
Through specially filtered music, SSP gently exercises the tiny muscles of the middle ear that help us better detect sounds of safety (human voices, soft tones) while filtering out potential threat cues.
When your system perceives safety, it can shift from “defense mode” into “connection mode,” allowing you to:
